Chain Tensioners
The job of a tensioning device is to keep under control the total force of the slack side resulting from chain weight and centrifugal force. Excessive chain tensioning accelerates wear and produces premature chain stretch. One of the fundamental ideas in the development of the SPANN-BOX® and SPANN-BOY® automatic chain tensioners was to be able to match the tension force to the appropriate chain size.
As a consequence of this there is a great variety of designs which can cope with many differing conditions.
